The Triangle Program

White Knight support will help complete the upgrade and renovation of the Triangle School facilities to expand the program to 55 students and make it fully accessible to LGBT disabled youth.

  • Toronto's Triangle Program provides a full high school curriculum from Grades 9-12 to bullied LGBT youth that are literally in fear of attending their current school because of chronic bullying and violence as openly gay students.
  • Currently serving 40 students/year and part of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) since 1995, the program has given over 500 bullied youth the chance to continue their learning in a safe, healthy environment without the fear of being harassed, bullied or violently assaulted and not just drop out of school as many before them have done.
  • The Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto (MCC Toronto) partners with the school board and provides a safe learning environment for these bullied youth in their recently renovated lower level.
  • There is urgent need to provide additional spaces in the program for more at risk youth as well as making the facility fully accessible for LGBT disabled students.
  • While the lower level has been renovated for classroom facilities, there is still need for ramps, wheelchair access to the lower level and accessible washrooms to make this facility fully accessible to LGBT disabled students. (www.triangleprogram.ca)
